Telework and social security - are you ready?

The correct social security status in an international context is increasingly important for companies in Switzerland.

With regard to telework, the transitional provisions in the EU, EFTA and Switzerland are valid until 30.6.2023.

The potential solutions for teleworking from 1.7.2023 have been published and there is clarity about what is possible and what is not.

Are there also new options for telework with other countries and nationalities?

I look at the various legal bases from a Swiss perspective.

  • Definition of telework
  • Agreement on the Free Movement of Persons VO 883/2004 and “Guidance note” and “Framework Agreement” regarding telework, areas of application and limitations as of 1.7.2023
  • Social security agreements between Switzerland and various countries
  • No social security agreement
